Forget about diamonds, concealers have become a girl’s best friend now! It’s there for you after a rough, long night and hides your dark, unending pigmentation from the world. It makes your features pop, your flaws fade and your under eye bags and red spots? Lol, a thing of the past! Many a makeup lover have debated over this: to apply foundation first, or concealer? We think there really is no right answer, since there is not a single art of applying makeup. We do, however, have expert tips on how to select and apply a concealer with perfection!

Tools: You could go for a beauty blender, a concealer brush or even better… your fingers!

How to Select:

For under eyes, select a concealer that’s lighter than your skin tone. This is the area that you are trying to highlight and should be separate from a concealer that you try to hide your blemishes with. For dark eye bags on South Asian skin, we suggest using an orange colour correcter first, then applying the concealer lightly on top. This will, with the correct application, completely hide those bags (which are more Samsonite than Chanel). For the rest of your skin, find a concealer that completely matches with your foundation for a natural finish.

To hide red spots and blemishes, find a concealer with olive tones. It will overcome the redness and create a flawless canvas for the rest of your makeup! As an alternative, use a green colour correcter beneath the concealer to hide those unappealing spots.

Application:

Use a brush to place the concealer where you want, and blend it with a beauty blender or your fingers. Apply the concealer around your nose, on your brow bone and on pigmented areas and blemishes. Reapply where needed and then use a damp beauty blender to perfect your look.

Pro Tip: Do not forget to set the makeup in with powder!
