    Realistic Beauty Expectations

Say goodbye to your inner critique, and take this pledge to be kinder to yourself and others.

    Oprah

The global “beauty standards” have been under question for quite some time now, and we believe it’s about time that EVERYONE starts seeing it as indeed a questionable thing!
Women, for the longest time, were GIVEN these set standards of beauty by society to meet. From changes in perfect hair to ideal body size, no matter what the newest beauty standard at the time was it has always had its consequences. Mostly, they were all negative!

    Beauty

You’d think that in the 21st century, where we have the power of social media, where we, as HUMANS, are constantly fighting for our rights, won’t have the issue with these silly beauty standards but, the sad truth is, today’s world is no better than the one before us.

Cosmetic surgeries, non-surgical “tweaks”, makeup, all sorts of extensions, be it nails, eyelashes or hair and worst of all, FILTERS and FACE TUNE has gotten this world in a much worse situation than it EVER was!🤦‍♀️

Our beauty ideals are those with millions of followers on social media. With their heavily edited images they “inspire” us to look a certain way. Is this even worth falling for? where these individuals do not even look like themselves! And this HAS TO STOP!

    Real beauty

We need to love who we are, embrace who we are, and LIVE our lives being ourselves. Wanting better skin or a healthier body and all these similar elements connected to the word “beauty” aren’t wrong! But what is driving this need to perfect ourselves is the question we need to ask ourselves.

Do we want to get rid of textured skin and visible pores because no girl on social media has them? Or do we want to improve what’s ours? Are we consuming healthier food because we want to nurture our bodies and to live a quality life? Or is it because the Fupa (term used for lower belly) challenge is becoming popular on YouTube? all because those with the most “ideal” body are doing it?

We need to embrace ourselves, love ourselves and CONNECT ourselves with realistic beauty expectations without starving or feeling like we need to go under a knife to look our best. Let’s love ourselves no matter what our age is and enjoy that part of our lives to the fullest!

Love your body, your hair, your skin, your complexion, YOURSELF and build your own beauty standards by doing what brings you happiness and not because you want to do what’s trending! Here’s to having realistic beauty expectations!
