Hair conditioner 101
Hello gorgeous ladies! It’s time that we have the “hair conditioner” talk! I have so countless ladies say “oh hair conditioner? no I don’t use it” and without any exaggeration what so ever, MY JAW DROPS!
Women apparently refrain from using conditioners because of bad experiences in the past and it breaks my heart knowing that it’s not the product, it’s the lack of knowledge that is making them not use one of the most essential hair care products ever!
I wanted to go in detail today about the benefits of using conditioners and the correct way of using them!
Benefits Of Hair Conditioners:
When we wash out hair, shampoo OPENS the hair cuticles but in order to SOOTH them, in other words, close them, we need to condition out hair! when the cuticles are soothed, this locks all the nutrients in and blocked all the pollutants out.
- Strengthens our hair by soothing cuticles
- Makes hair softer
- Makes hair manageable
- Helps in treating hair breakage
- Prevents split ends
- Makes hair less frizzy
- Prevents tangling
How to use a Conditioner
Before know the how, lets discuss the two types of conditioners. Wash out conditioners and leave in conditioners. The conditioners use in shower are called wash out whereas the ones used to condition hair after the shower, on damp hair are called leave in.
Wash out conditioner:
Make sure you have washed out all the shampoo
Take the suggested amount on the bottle – mostly its about the size of a quarter
Start working the product in your hair from the tips moving upwards towards your chin
Only apply conditioner to the lengths of your hair and do not apply on the roots
*if your hair is extremely dry around the scalp, you may use the left over on your hair to be spread near the roots of your hair but its ideal to cure dryness with masks, oils and the formulas used in shampoos and conditioners!
Apply evenly on all the lengths and let it sit for a few minutes then rinse!
Leave in conditioner:
On damp hair, take a pea sized amount or the recommended amount of product on your hands
Warm it up slightly to “activate” the ingredients and increase the separability of the conditioner
Start working the conditioner from the tips towards your chin
Making sure to keep the lengths in focus, not the roots as we don’t want to weigh down the hair!
Let your hair air dry or style with preferred heat tools and viola!
Recommended hair conditioners:
I truly hope you stop blaming the product type, but pick the correct formula for yourself and follow the correct way of using a hair conditioner so you can truly provide the most essential care to your hair with this MUST HAVE product!
