Lip fillers have become quite a popular cosmetic procedure in recent times thanks to Kylie Jenner. The quest for perfect pout is causing celebrities, influencers and individuals to take this non-surgical route. There is however a new trend in the cosmetic world that claims to be natural and results are pretty impressive – it’s called the lip threading.
What exactly is lip threading?
Lip threading is a non-surgical procedure that involves passing a thread through the outline of the lips to give them definition. These threads are made of poly-L-lactic acids or PLLA and help in stimulating collagen production in the lips, as collagen starts producing, it changes the shape as well as the size of the lips. Lip threading is more about defining the lips than adding volume to it unlike fillers that greatly volumizes the lips.
Are there any side effects to it?
Like any cosmetic procedure, lip threading also has some drawbacks. If something goes wrong or if the result isnt satisfactory for the client, it is harder to fix it than to fix lip fillers. Secondly with lip treading there is a greater risk of infections and lumps being formed. Thirdly lip threading has more downtime than lip fillers, usually it takes about 2 weeks for the bruising from threading to go away.
Lip threading – a better alternative to lip fillers?
Although lip threading is becoming popular these days, it can’t be said that it has completely taken over lip fillers. Both procedures target different lip problems and require proper consultation from a certified doctor.
