In order to have healthy skin that looks good and appears flawless, you need to build a strong routine and stick to it religiously. A routine might sound fairly simple, you wash your face, put on a moisturiser and you are good to go, right? WRONG! your skin needs a little more love than that. If you dont have a routine set already, it can be overwhelming to start one, there is so much information out there and so many products that it certainly can get confusing. Today we will list down simple steps you need to follow to have a solid routine.
In the mornings, since its already a race against time for most of us, try to keep the steps as simple as possible.
First thing in the morning, you need to cleanse in order to remove all the dirt accumulated over night. Make sure you know your skin type and pick a cleanser according to it. Cream cleansers or cleansing milk are great for dry skin while gel cleansers work well for oily skin types.
This step is to prep your skin for better absorption of the following products. Again make sure to pick a toner that is well suited to your skin type. Most toners have alcohol in them which can be too drying for the skin and will do more harm than good. Pick a toner that is gentle on your skin.
Once your skin has been prepped, apply serum to it which is a lightweight product with strong ingredients which will quickly penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin and do its magic.
In order to lock all of it in, you need to apply moisturiser so that your skin can retain the products applied and doesnt lose its water.
To finish it off, apply suncreen, you absolutely CANNOT skip this step. This is the barrier between the sun and your skin.
At night, the routine has a little more steps added to it.
1. Remove makeup
Make sure to wipe your skin clean at night, even if you dont wear much makeup, use a makeup cleaner to remove the gunk of the day.
2. Cleanse again
Cleansing at night is even more important than in the morning. If you can try do double cleanse which means using an oil cleanser and a foam cleanser.
Serum at night is optional, if you feel like your skin needs an extra dose of it, there is absolutely no harm in using some.
4. Eye cream
The area around our eyes is very delicate than the rest of the face therefore it needs special attention, apply an eye cream to keep the area moisturised so that wrinkles stay away.
Moisturising at night is just as important as it is in the morning. You need to lock in the moisturiser and prevent your skin from drying up from cleansing.
