E-Magazine Contribution: Dying Your Hair (Brunettes Edition)

How many of you remember those horrid, distinct golden streaks that were in fashion once? Literally, every third person in Pakistan would be rocking the same washed out look… And that style made me swear off hair dying till I absolutely needed it…

Luckily, nowadays with the new blended and more natural-looking hair transformations that all the celebrities are wearing for a sun-kissed look, I was personally tempted to give it a try. Here’s how you should prepare yourself before you get your hair dyed too!

Step 1: Do your research/ find reference images

Before you head to your hair stylist/ salon, do your research.

Collect a few reference images and take them with you to give your stylist a pictorial reference to exactly what you want.

I found this article on “The Right Hairstyles” website particularly useful and narrowed down to the following image for my dark brown hair:

Step 2: Go to a trusted hair stylist

I have heard uncountable stories of nightmare hair transformations and from the looks of it no matter what you instruct a stylist they will give you blonde highlights. Look at the Instagram pages of the stylists you are considering or ask them to show images of their work during your consultation to ensure they can be trusted with your hair.

I chose Numra Makeup Studio.

Step 3: Put an entire day aside for your appointment and wait for the results…

We decided on a two tone (light brown and golden brown) balayage with olaplex (to prevent hair damage). I didn’t change my base colour or color my crown to make it low maintenance. The process takes a few hours but the final result should hopefully make it worth your while!

Step 4: Results…
