Before you get on with your Exfoliating this is a Must Read

Exfoliating involves a cream based product that contains little scrubbing beads which are massaged across the skin to help smooth skin by physically removing the dull, dry, dead skin cells. There are different kinds of Exfoliators for different skin types. However if we over exfoliate we could weaken our skin protective barrier, leaving it open and dry, which will eventually be exposed to bacteria and sun rays. So be ready to follow our quick guide on how to exfoliate like a pro this summer.

  • Avoid using Chemical Exfoliators

Board Certified Dermatologist Dr. Ingraham, explains that “Products with glycolic acid and lactic acid shouldn’t be used quite frequently, as both ingredients expose skin to the sun and may cause sensitivity.” . We should limit our use of chemical exfoliators as all of them have different acids which make the skin more sensitive and irritable. We would recommend going through the ingredients the product holds to be on the safe side as we tend to make these mistakes and realize it when our skin has totally broken out.

  • Set Your Time Table for Exfoliation Routine

Set your time table for exfoliating routine as this will help you avoid over exfoliating and aggravating your skin. For starters exfoliate your skin once or twice a week as part of your night time routine to allow your skin to restore while you sleep because exfoliating at night is more effective than in the morning.

  •  End it up with a Moisturizer

When you are done with exfoliation, end it up with an hydrating moisturizer to soothe and restore your skin as due to some ingredients in exfoliators, your skin becomes dry and could end up showing dry patches if you do not moisturize it properly.

  • Avoid using Exfoliators with Harsh Beads

Some exfoliators have granules with rough edges which can damage the skin. To prevent any harm, make sure to choose exfoliators with rounded beads. So it doesn’t hurts the skin or result in skin rashes.
