6 Mistakes You Are Making With Your Skin In The Winters

After reading alot of winter skin care articles, you must think that you know how to combat the winter issues such as dryness & flakiness. How hard can it be right? you just have to slather alot of moisturizer as soon as you get out of the shower and apply generous amounts of lip balm. But you might still be making plenty of mistakes. Here are 6 common mistakes you might be making with your skin care in winter.

  1. You are using lotion

You are using a running lotion to moisturize that wouldnt really help you in given the dryness that comes with winters. Make sure you are using a cream and not a lotion. Also you need to double up, if you are only using it once a day, make it twice so that it is effective.

2. You are not moisturizing at the RIGHT time

Moisturizing alone is not enough, you need to moisturize at the right time for it to be the most effective. The right time is right after shower when your face and body is still damp, this will enable your skin to absorb the moisturiser better.

3. You are not using a moisturizer with the right ingredients

Another winter skin care mistakes you might be making is not using the moisturizers with the right ingredients. Look for moisturizers that have skin repairing ingredients so that it can heal your dry skin.

4. You are not using the right cleanser

Avoid using soaps or cleansers that have alkaline pH, these can dry out your skin and cause irritation. Use cleansers that are hydrating and gentler with the skin barrier.

5. You arent using a sleep mask

Overnight masks are designed to permeate your skin so that better hydration is provided to the underneath layers of your skin. Use hydrators such  as serums or oils and then use a sleeping mask to lock the moisture in.

6. You are not bring inflammation into account

Severe dry skin can cause small cracks in the outermost layers of your skin that can lead to loss of hydration and inflammation. Besides keeping your skin moisturised, you also need to reduce inflammation if your skin is suffering from it. You need to see a dermatologist to rule out whether your skin is suffering from inflammation or not and get it treated.
