Hair is something very personal to each of us. We all have different type, textures and variations as far as hair is concerned and that’s what makes us so different. Although our hair is unique, the issues we face arent, all of us go through the same hair problems like dryness, dandruff, hairfall etc, similarly there are certain hair myths that all of us believe, so today, we will debunk all of those myths!

Myth # 1: Heat tools are bad for hair

If you use tools with way too much heat and that too everyday, they will be bad but today’s technology has become so advanced, the heating tools now have ceramic materials and vitamin infused plates that damaging hair is not an issue any longer. Straighteners now monitor temperatures andadjust heat levels to minimise hair damage. Also there are plenty of heat protectants in the market that protects the hair against intense heat.

Myth # 2: You need to trim your hair frequently before they grow

You must have heard this alot! but this definitely a myth! hair grows from the roots and not the ends so in order to ensure that your hair grows you need to focus on the health of your scalp.

Myth # 3: There is a perfect cut for everyone

Many women spend alot of time and energy into getting a perfect cut. or making their hair in way that they think it should look but we all should embrace our natural texture and style. There is no such thing as a perfect cut, work with what you have!

Myth # 4: More conditioner is better

Infact more moisturiser will weigh hair down and cause over-saturation, this can minimise the hair movement and its bounce. Instead of thickly coating your hair strands with moisturiser, lightly coat your hair with it.

Myth # 5: If you pluck a grey hair, two more will grow in its place

There is absolutely no truth in this myth, each strand is only attached to one follicle so to believe that by plucking one gray hair, two more will appear is completely untrue!

Myth # 6: Hair oil will make your hair greasy

Many people skip using hair oil entirely because they believe, it will make their hair greasy but that will only happen if you have an oily scalp. Using hair oil, will strengthen your hair and improve health. Hair oils penetrate the the strands and improve the hair quality.

Myth # 7:  Hair gets immuned to shampoo & conditioner

If you have a shampoo & conditioner that suits you well and make youe hair feel fantastic, you should stick to it. You dont have to change it or rotate, the longer you use them, the more benefits you will reap.

Myth # 8: Wearing a hat will cause hair thinning

Wearing a hat, or a hijab does not cause hair thinning, this myth cannot be further from the truth! Wearing a head gear can actually protect your hair from direct sunlight and pollutants. If anything, wearing a hat can actually be good for your hair.

Myth # 9: You should brush your hair 100 times.

We have all heard this one quite a bit especially fro our grandmothers, with all due respect to them, this is completely untrue. Brushing 100 times will cause breakage to your hair rather than doing any good. Be gentle while you brush your hair, number of strokes it not important.

Myth # 10: Shampoo will make your hair shed

Women often lose their hair in the shower and believe that their shampoo is causing the hair fall. This isnt true, there has to be some other explanation for the hairfall, as shampoo has nothing to do with it unles its an expired product or it has reacted with your hair – which is rare.
